Austin Hart is thrilled to begin his career in education at Obra D. Tompkins High School and contribute to the legacy of Katy ISD’s newest and most prestigious campus.
Austin attended the University of Texas at Austin where he studied Choral Music Education. During this time he was a member of several chorus groups including the University of Texas Concert Chorale, the Choral Arts Society. He also served on the executive board of the Longhorn Singers as the Vice President for two years. Throughout his undergraduate studies, Austin had the opportunity to work with and learn from many excellent choir and music teachers throughout the greater Austin Area.
Upon completing his Bachelor’s Degree, Austin was accepted into the esteemed Graduate Opera Program at the University of Texas as a member of the Butler Opera Center. Here he performed roles from many operas including The Marriage of Figaro, La Boheme, Madam Butterfly, Ariadne auf Naxos, Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods. In addition to singing and performing with his outstanding colleagues, Austin also studied conducting with world renowned opera and symphonic conductor and pianist, Maestro Kelly Kuo.
Outside of the University, Austin was an active musician. He played in the pit for many show choir concerts and was a member of the Hill Country Bible Church Worship Band as a guitarist and assistant worship leader.
When he is away from the classroom, Austin enjoys going on outdoor adventures with his wife, Jen. Together they go on bike rides, road trips, wakeboard at the lake, and make music in their home.
